Workshop: Folklore Themed Drawing & Painting

We are kicking off the new year of with some fantastic workshops at By The Broads of Norfolk Folklore, this month looking at Hikey Sprites. These will be held the 1st 4 Tuedays in March 1pm-4pm £15 a session or book all sessions for £50. Be sure to book quickly as there are only 8 spaces available for these fantastic workshops.

In the drawing & painting workshop you will hear about the legendary Hikey Sprite and you are invited to share anything that you know about this classic East Anglian creature while we try some different drawing materials and techniques. The idea of these workshops is to embrace the oral history of the region, by the sharing of tales and to be creative in doing so. Sitting with others and making things is a great way of getting to know new people and making connections in the community.

The drawing & painting workshop will be the first of 4 workshops based around Hikey Sprites with the monthly schedule looking like this:

Week 1 (3rd March) – Drawing & painting – Thinking about how we can draw something that is mythological, looking at using different mark-making techniques and colours.

Week 2 (10th March) – Linocut printing – Creating a linocut print design and printing onto different surfaces, following the monthly folklore theme.

Week 3 (17th March) – Air dry clay modelmaking – Try out some air-drying clay to make small models based on the current folklore theme.

Week 4 (24th March) – Tetra-pak printing – Using recycled tetra-pak cartons to create innovative prints.
